Normandy

The past three days on went on one of the coolest trips I've taken so far, visiting the D-Day Beaches. We left from London by train and arrived in Paris where we stayed the night in a hostel. In the morning we took another train to the small town of Bayeux on the French Coast. Bayeux is around 5 miles from Omaha Beach and the majority of the D-Day sites. To reach these we took a van tour which picked us up at our hotel. The tour included Point du Hoc where the Rangers had to climb a cliff to attack a German gun position, the famous Omaha Beach, the American Cemetary, and a gun battery known as Longues-sur-Mer. It was incredible to actually be somewhere where such an important event took place. The American Cemetary was particurally moving. In it were the graves of General Theodore Roosevelt Jr. and the Family that inspired Saving Private Ryan. After the tour we returned to Bayeux and ate at a small restaurant. The meal was one of the best I've had in Europe. Mine consisted of a seafood appetizer (shrimp, oysters, and sea snails), steak with bernaise sauce, and a applie pie appetizer. The next morning we headed back to Paris and than London where I'll be until the 5th when I leave for Alicante, Spain.

Morocco and Madrid

For half term break me and a bunch of friends visited Morocco and Madrid. The weather wasn't great but it was still a great time. Morocco was one of the most unique places I've ever been too and Madrid was a beautiful city. Probably the highlight of the trip was riding camels into the Sahara Desert and camping out. The video is from the ride home when we got caught in a storm. Here's a link to some more pictures

Lacrosse

So far in the second half of the season weather has dominated our schedule. We've already had three games cancelled with more possibly on the way. The games we have played have seen us win two and lose two. Unfortunately one of the loses was in the Flags semi-finals, so we are out of the playoffs. But we still have a chance to finish in the top four of the league, which would be a good result. A bit of good news is that we now have new uniforms (which are purple).

British Museum

Alright I've got alot of catching up to do. To start a few weeks ago I went to the British Museum with my friend Greg. It was by far one of the coolest things I've seen in London so far. Basically it contains alot of artifacts that the British Empire has stolen from other cultures. Largely Egypt, Rome, Greece, and Africa. Some of the notable exhibits we had a chance to see were the Rosetta Stone, Eligin Marbles, and Cleopatra's Mummy.

Edinburgh

For New Year's I went to the Hogmanay Festival in Edinburgh, Scotland which is one of the biggest celebrations in the world. We stayed at a friend of a friends apartment which is located in the watchtower of a college which is supposedly the inspiration for Hogwarts. We went to the street party in the Old Town which was attended by hundreds of thousands of people and included live music.
